HCMC – The government leaders of Vietnam and Kyrgyzstan affirmed the importance each side attaches to bilateral relations and agreed to promote political, economic, and trade relations.

Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh and his Kyrgyz counterpart Adylbek Kasimalyev were speaking at their talks today, March 6, which took place after an official welcome ceremony in Hanoi in honor of Kyrgyzstan’s government leader.

Chinh emphasized that Kasymaliev’s visit represents a historic milestone in the longstanding friendship between Vietnam and Kyrgyzstan, with the aim to elevate their relationship to a comprehensive partnership.

The Kyrgyz PM praised Vietnam’s growing role in Southeast Asia, affirming that Kyrgyzstan prioritizes stronger ties with Vietnam and seeks enhanced cooperation in areas where both countries share strengths and opportunities.

Both sides reaffirmed their commitment to maintaining high-level exchanges across government ministries, sectors, and localities, including bilateral interactions at international forums and conferences, particularly at the United Nations.

They also agreed to establish direct communication channels to ensure the effective implementation of high-level agreements and strengthen mutual support at multilateral platforms.

PM Chinh highlighted Vietnam’s readiness to serve as a bridge for Kyrgyzstan to deepen cooperation with ASEAN. He also expressed hope that Kyrgyzstan would leverage its regional influence to strengthen Vietnam’s ties with Central Asia and requested Kyrgyzstan’s support for Vietnam and ASEAN’s stance on the East Sea issue.

Vietnam and Kyrgyzstan have agreed to expand cooperation in key areas, including agriculture, defense and security, education and training, culture and tourism, local partnerships, and transportation connectivity, particularly in aviation and railways.

This expansion aims to open new avenues for collaboration, deepen mutual understanding between the two nations, and strengthen bilateral ties.

Following their talks, the two sides issued a joint statement outlining the outcomes of the Kyrgyz leader’s visit and witnessed the signing of several bilateral cooperation agreements.

These included an agreement on education cooperation, a memorandum of understanding on legal cooperation between the Ministries of Justice of both countries, and another memorandum between the Civil Aviation Authorities of Vietnam and Kyrgyzstan.

PM Kasymaliev extended an invitation to PM Chinh for an official visit to Kyrgyzstan to discuss concrete measures for enhancing cooperation in the near future, which the Vietnamese leader accepted.

He is in Vietnam from March 5 to 7 for an official visit at the invitation of PM Chinh.
