HCMC – The Ministry of Health confirmed 10,585 new Covid-19 cases, all but two being 10,583 domestic infections in 34 cities and provinces this evening, September 15, taking the country’s Covid-19 tally to 645,640.

HCMC recorded the biggest number of new domestic infections with 5,301 cases, followed by other southern localities such as Binh Duong with 3,228, Dong Nai with 808, Long An with 424 and Kien Giang with 183.

Other cities and provinces reported fewer than 100 new cases each.

The country has reported 641,245 locally transmitted Covid-19 infections in 62 cities and provinces in the fourth wave of the pandemic, which began in late April.

Up to now, 412,650 Covid-19 patients in the country have fully recovered, including some 14,190 people today. Meanwhile, more than 6,000 patients are currently in critical condition.

The Ministry of Health also confirmed 250 more Covid-19 deaths this afternoon, including 189 in HCMC, 42 in Binh Duong, four in Long An, three in Dong Thap and two in Tay Ninh.

Phu Yen, Tra Vinh, Gia Lai, An Giang, Khanh Hoa and Ba Ria – Vung Tau reported one new fatality each.

To tighten Covid-19 control, Hanoi has installed cameras to scan QR codes at 67 Covid-19 checkpoints across the city.

After scanning, a system at the Police Department for Administrative Management of Social Order under the Ministry of Public Security will automatically verify information of the commuters.

The system helps detect Covid-19 patients and people having direct contact with them, as well as those who have been fully vaccinated.

After submitting personal information at http://suckhoe.dancuquocgia.gov.vn, people will receive a QR code. While moving on the street, they must show the QR code at Covid-19 checkpoints. The code will be valid for 72 hours.

Hanoi police have detected hundreds of violations at Covid-19 checkpoints in recent days.
