HCMC – The Ministry of Health announced 13,063 fresh Covid-19 infections this evening, November 27, including 15 imported cases and 13,048 domestic cases.
According to the ministry, the number of locally-infected cases today declined by 46 day-on-day. Of them, the source of transmission of more than 7,000 cases remains unknown.
HCMC reported the most infections, at 1,773 cases. Nine localities in the south including Can Tho, Binh Duong, Ba Ria-Vung Tau, Tay Ninh, and Dong Thap recorded over 500 cases each, with Can Tho reporting 954 cases. Further, 20 other localities each saw a triple-digit figure in the case number.
Besides, the health authority of Tay Ninh Province in the day registered to add 3,004 cases detected earlier to the national Covid case management system.
The Health Ministry also confirmed 148 more Covid deaths the same day, raising the country’s coronavirus death toll to over 24,600 cases. Meanwhile, nearly 1,700 Covid patients were declared free of Covid and were discharged from hospital today, thus bringing the country’s total recoveries to nearly 957,000 cases.
In related news, Tra Vinh Province in the Mekong Delta yesterday, November 26, decided to set up two more Covid treatment facilities for patients that are asymptomatic or show mild symptoms. These two facilities will be located at local schools in Tra Vinh City and Duyen Hai District.
Kien Soc Kha, director of the Tra Vinh Province Department of Health, said that the provincial government had previously established eight Covid treatment facilities for asymptomatic patients and those with mild symptoms in the districts of Tra Cu, Cau Ngang, and Chau Thanh.
Currently, seven facilities have been overwhelmed by a large number of patients. Localities in the province have allowed over 1,200 Covid patients to receive home treatment.
Tra Vinh is facing the complicated Covid situation, with domestic infections maintaining an upward trend. It reported 309 cases yesterday, including 265 cases with unknown source of transmission, and 328 cases today. From November 20 to 26, the province saw an average of 277 cases per day.
In Central Vietnam, the south-central province of Binh Thuan and the north-central province of Nghe An in the day launched their vaccination campaigns for children aged 12-17, using the Pfizer vaccine.
