HCMC – Vietnam is encouraging U.S. businesses to expand investment in key sectors such as the digital economy, renewable energy, and logistics, as discussed at a meeting between Vietnamese leaders and the U.S.-ASEAN Business Council (USABC).

On March 18, Party General Secretary To Lam and Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh had separate meetings with a delegation from USABC, led by USABC President and CEO Ted Osius, who was formerly U.S. Ambassador to Vietnam.

Party General Secretary To Lam emphasized that strong Vietnam-U.S. relations have positive impact on U.S.-ASEAN ties and called on USABC to support ASEAN’s efforts in promoting regional solidarity, cooperation, and economic growth.

He noted that ASEAN’s large market and economic potential create significant business opportunities for U.S. investors.

Vietnam considers the U.S. a key strategic partner, with economic, trade, investment, and technology cooperation forming the foundation of bilateral relations. The Vietnamese leader highlighted ongoing institutional reforms, infrastructure improvements, and administrative streamlining aimed at enhancing Vietnam’s business environment for foreign investors.

He urged U.S. companies to strengthen investment in sectors where the U.S. has expertise and Vietnam has growing demand, including emerging technologies, the digital economy, green energy transition, and logistics.

Ted Osius and representatives of U.S. businesses reaffirmed their commitment to supporting Vietnam’s development and expressed appreciation for Vietnam’s leadership in fostering bilateral economic ties.

They expressed confidence in Vietnam’s long-term economic growth prospects and pledged to continue partnering with the country in its development strategy.

According to USABC, two U.S. business delegations are visiting Vietnam this week. The first delegation, consisting of 58 leading U.S. companies, is in Vietnam from March 18 to 20.

A second delegation, specializing in healthcare and life sciences, will visit from March 20 to 21. With a total of 64 companies, this represents the largest-ever U.S. business delegation to Vietnam under a USABC-organized program.
