HCMC – PetroVietnam Technical Services Corporation (PTSC) and Sembcorp Utilities Pte Ltd (SCU) of Singapore have held an award ceremony for the wind and metocean measurement services and geotechnical desktop study packages as part of a project on export of offshore renewable energy from Vietnam to Singapore.

This is a major development in the preparation and implementation of the offshore renewable energy import-export project between Vietnam and Singapore.

The award ceremony took place in Singapore on August 28, with the attendance of high-ranking officials from Vietnam and Singapore, as well as representatives of Vietnam Oil and Gas Group (PVN), PTSC, and SCU.

The contracts involve the collection of accurate data on the natural and technical conditions of the project area. This is a key element of strategic cooperation between Vietnam and Singapore in the renewable energy sector.

The work includes collecting data on wind speed, wind direction and wind intensity at various heights; metocean measurements such as sea waves, currents, sea levels. The packages involve geological and geotechnical desktop study, assessments of offshore wind power potential and the identification of advanced technologies for developing offshore wind power systems.

The collaboration began after the two countries signed a joint development agreement on investment and export of offshore renewable energy to Singapore during Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh’s visit to Singapore earlier this year.

Le Manh Hung, chairman of PVN, emphasized the significance of this event, calling it a milestone for the offshore renewable energy sector in both countries. He also noted that this project represents a significant step towards achieving net-zero emissions by 2050, aligning with the objectives of Vietnam’s National Power Development Plan VIII.
