HCMC – Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh of Vietnam and his Singaporean counterpart Lee Hsien Loong have attended the launching ceremony of the Vietnam-Singapore Innovation Center in Binh Duong and three industrial parks in various localities.

Joined by numerous delegates and leaders, Chinh and Lee participated in a conference in Hanoi to deliberate on measures for accelerating Vietnam-Singapore collaborative projects on August 29.

Several memoranda of understanding for investment cooperation between Vietnam and Singapore were unveiled in the presence of the two prime ministers. Notably, they virtually attended the groundbreaking ceremonies for three Vietnam-Singapore industrial parks (VSIPs) in Can Tho, Bac Ninh and Nghe An.

During the event, the Becamex IDC Corporation and Sembcorp Industries as the two partners in a joint venture that has developed many VSIPs, also announced the establishment of the Vietnam-Singapore Innovation Center in Binh Duong.

This center aims to catalyze the province’s economic innovation, research, and technological development endeavors, while also drawing businesses and institutions to facilitate technology transfer and commercialization.

Furthermore, the investment in four additional industrial park projects in Lang Son, Thai Binh, Ha Tinh and Binh Thuan received the green light this morning.

Several provinces also signed MOUs to explore the feasibility of establishing industrial parks in Binh Phuoc, Tay Ninh, Khanh Hoa, Thua Thien Hue, Thanh Hoa, Nam Dinh, Ninh Binh, Hai Duong, and Haiphong.

The meeting also witnessed the announcement of a decision to approve offshore resource surveys and a proposal to develop offshore infrastructure projects for exporting wind power to Singapore.

Following the approval, the joint venture of PTSC and Sembcorp will undertake a survey in a 200,000-hectare sea area to identify suitable locations for installing wind turbines.
