HCMC – Trade between Vietnam and Singapore rose 28.5% in the first half of this year to S$19.5 billion, official data showed.
Singapore exported S$13.9 billion worth of goods to Vietnam during the period, up 24.4% from a year earlier. Its imports from Vietnam climbed 40.1% to S$5.5 billion. Vietnam remained Singapore’s 10th largest trading partner.
In June, bilateral trade increased 30.4% year-on-year to S$3.2 billion. Singapore’s exports rose 22.8% to S$2.2 billion, and its imports from Vietnam jumped 51.9% to S$993.6 million.
Singapore posted a trade surplus of S$8.4 billion with Vietnam, up 15.9% over a year earlier.
Electrical machinery and equipment and mineral fuels and related products were the top exports from Singapore to Vietnam, accounting for S$9.5 billion, or 68.3% of the total.
Electrical machinery and equipment were Vietnam’s leading exports to Singapore, at S$2.7 billion, surging 80.7% year-on-year, and accounting for nearly half of total exports.
