HCMC – The Drug Administration under the Ministry of Health has intensified efforts to regulate the sale of cosmetics on social media platforms, addressing growing concerns over counterfeit and substandard products.
The agency called on provincial health departments to ramp up inspections of beauty product trade on e-commerce platforms and social media sites such as TikTok, Zalo, Facebook, and YouTube.
The Drug Administration found cases where companies listed incorrect phone numbers or had ceased operations at the addresses stated on their product notifications, according to the Vietnam Government Portal.
To tackle these issues, authorities are collaborating with local police, health centers, and tax authorities to trace businesses and confirm the identities of their legal representatives.
The agency has directed provincial health departments to prioritize identifying and penalizing businesses involved in producing, selling, or advertising counterfeit or substandard cosmetics.
Efforts will be made to recall and destroy these products to protect consumers, according to the agency.
