HCMC – Vietnamese workers abroad send back to the country between US$3.5 billion and US$4 billion each year, according to the Ministry of Labor, Invalids, and Social Affairs.
During the Q&A session at the National Assembly’s sixth sitting, the ministry shared details about Vietnam’s annual overseas worker numbers, which range from 120,000 to 143,000.
So far this year, 112,000 Vietnamese have been sent overseas for guest work. Japan has welcomed the largest contingent of around 55,000 workers, followed by Taiwan with 30,000.
The ministry has taken several initiatives to assist these workers, including the creation of an online information platform, the establishment of a job search platform, and the facilitation of connections between Vietnamese and foreign businesses.
For instance, Vietnamese guest laborers returning from Japan have the opportunity to work for Japanese-invested companies.
Additional measures involve providing returning overseas workers with access to loans and collaborating with relevant entities to regulate the labor market. In the event of increased domestic labor demand, the ministry will curtail labor exports.
