HCMC – Vietnam’s aviation sector handled 69.3 million passengers and 1.2 million tons of cargo in the first 11 months of the year, rising 10.8% and 18.5% year-on-year, respectively, according to the Civil Aviation Authority of Vietnam (CAAV).

Domestic carriers transported 30.9 million passengers and 186,800 tons of cargo, up 7.4% in passenger volume and roughly unchanged in cargo compared to the same period last year. International traffic reached 38.4 million passengers and 1.1 million tons of cargo, up 13.6% and 22.7%.

CAAV forecasts the aviation market will reach around 84 million passengers and 1.4 million tons of cargo in 2025, up 11.4% and 18% year-on-year. The agency expects a double-digit expansion this year, driven by rising travel demand and the launch of more international routes.

For 2026, the authority is setting higher targets, aiming for 95 million passengers and 1.6 million tons of cargo.

To support the industry’s growth momentum, CAAV said policy measures may be needed, including tax, fee and credit incentives for airlines, as well as expanded visa facilitation to stimulate tourism demand.
