HCMC – Vietnam’s Deputy Prime Minister Ho Duc Phoc will have a working visit to the U.S. from April 6 to 14, followed by an official visit to Cuba, according to the Government news site.

His visit comes after President Donald Trump announced reciprocal tariffs on April 2 (local time), with Vietnam slapped with a sweeping tariff of 46%.

The business community hopes that the Government’s prompt response, along with the Deputy Prime Minister’s visit, will pave the way for negotiations leading to a more balanced agreement—easing the burden on businesses amid the current tough business landscape.

Deputy Prime Minister Ho Duc Phoc is currently assigned by the Prime Minister to oversee and direct the Ministry of Finance, the State Bank of Vietnam, the Vietnam Bank for Social Policies (VBSP), the Vietnam Development Bank (VDB), and the Deposit Insurance of Vietnam (DIV).

On behalf of the Prime Minister, Phoc directly supervises and guides key areas such as investment planning; economic forecasting and macroeconomic policy management; finance and pricing; monetary and banking affairs; capital and securities markets; financial investment sources; national reserves; and others.
