HCMC – Vietnam imported more than three million tons of fertilizers in January-July, a volume that is twice as much as the amount exported to other countries.
According to the General Department of Vietnam Customs, the January-July period saw a significant increase in fertilizer imports compared to exports. The import value totaled nearly US$980.5 million, up by 46.3%, with the quantity totalling about three million tons, a 55.5% increase in volume.
China remained Vietnam’s leading fertilizer supplier, accounting for 37.4% of the total import turnover, with nearly 1.3 million tons worth US$366.65 million.
The Russian market was the second largest supplier, contributing US$165.48 million with a volume of 364,402 tons. Vietnam also imported significant quantities of fertilizer from Laos, Canada, Belgium and Norway.
On the export side, Vietnam generated US$420.3 million in revenue from fertilizer exports in the first seven months, up by 7.5%. However, the average export price was down by 2% year-on-year to US$40.6 per ton.
Vietnam’s fertilizer exports primarily targeted markets such as Cambodia, South Korea, Taiwan, and Japan.
