HCMC – Vietnam Railways (VNR) has proposed the Government prioritize allocating funds for upgrading and installing warning signs at 297 level crossings across the country.
This proposal is in line with a plan on enhancing the traffic safety corridor and addressing level crossings for the period of 2021-2025, as approved by the prime minister.
The plan involves the upgrade and installation of equipment at below-standard level crossings, incorporating automatic warning systems or railway workers.
The Ministry of Transport has recommended that the prime minister allocate capital originally designated for railway economic activities in 2024-2025 for the purpose of project implementation. The estimated cost of this project is VND750 billion.
Upon completion, the project will eliminate 297 accident-prone areas, significantly improving travel conditions for residents.
