Vo Van Thuong, Tran Tuan Anh hold posts in PCC

HCMC – The Politburo on February 6 assigned Vo Van Thuong, head of the Party Central Committee’s (PCC’s) Commission for Propagation and Education, as standing member of the PCC’s Secretariat, and Tran Tuan Anh, Minister of Industry and Trade, as chairman of the PCC’s Economic Commission.

Party General Secretary and State President Nguyen Phu Trong handed over the decisions and presented flowers to Thuong and Anh, the local media reported.

On behalf of the two officials, Thuong thanked Party General Secretary and State President Nguyen Phu Trong and the Politburo for their trust and assigning the Party’s very important tasks to them at the start of a new development period of the country.

This is a great honor and heavy responsibility as the Party and people are expecting solid development steps of the Party and the country after the success of the 13th National Party Congress, Thuong said.

Both officials said they will try their best to fulfill their assigned tasks, helping maintain unity, solidarity, principles and good reputation of the Party and significantly contributing to the leadership and direction in the deployment of the 13th National Party Congress’s resolution and resolutions of the PCC, the Politburo and the Secretariat.

They also promised to ceaselessly channel efforts to improve themselves and expected to receive the support from incumbent and former leaders of the Party to fulfill their assigned missions, deserving the trust of the Politburo, the Secretariat, the PCC and the people.

Thuong, born in 1970 in the Mekong Delta province of Vinh Long, was secretary of the Quang Ngai Provincial Party Committee from August 2011 to April 2014 before holding the post of vice standing secretary of the HCMC Party Committee until February 2016.

In February 2016, he became a member of the PCC’s Secretariat and head of the Commission for Propagation and Education.

He was re-elected to the PCC at the 13th National Party Congress on January 31, 2021 and the Politburo the next day.

Meanwhile, Anh, born in 1964 in the central province of Quang Ngai, is a member of the 12th and 13th PCC. From May 2008 to August 2010, he was vice chairman of the Can Tho City government.

He later served as secretary of the Party Committee and Deputy Minister of the Ministry Industry and Trade and deputy head of the Economic Commission until April 2016.

He became Minister of Industry and Trade on April 9, 2016. On January 31, 2021, he was elected to the Politburo of the 13th PCC.
