HCMC – Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh yesterday, January 26, attended a ceremony for the start of upgrade work on a rail line between the Saigon Railway Station in HCMC and the Nha Trang Station in the coastal province of Khanh Hoa.
The project will repair the Song Than and Di An stations, rehabilitate four deteriorating rail bridges and improving other technical facilities.
It is one of eight projects planned to improve the Hanoi-HCMC railway between 2021 and 2025, with a total cost of around VND9,580 billion.
According to PM Chinh, infrastructure projects, notably transportation development, would be among the Government’s top priorities in the years to come.
As stated in the national railway network plan from 2021 to 2030, with a vision to 2050, Vietnam will modernize the existing rail routes throughout the country and develop new lines on the key economic corridors that link local and regional ports, airports and industrial zones.
The prime minister has asked the relevant agencies to speed up the North-South express railway project, with an initial focus on the section between HCMC and the Mekong Delta city of Can Tho.
