HCMC – Work began today, July 6, on the Quang Tri airport project in north-central Vietnam at a total cost of over VND5.8 trillion.
Located in Gio Linh District, the airport is designed to accommodate five million passengers and handle 25,500 tons of cargo annually.
The project received in-principle approval from the prime minister under the public-private partnership (PPP) format in December 2021, with all necessary legal procedures completed in just 30 months, according to local news site Quang Tri Online.
Vo Van Hung, chairman of the provincial People’s Committee, said it is the fastest PPP airport project in the country to reach this stage of development.
Upon completion in 2026, Quang Tri Airport is expected to enhance tourism, logistics, and economic development in the province. The project is being developed by a consortium consisting of T&T Group and Cienco 4.
