HCMC – The Ministry of Health this evening, May 21, confirmed 1,457 fresh Covid cases, down by 130 against yesterday.
Hanoi City took the lead in new cases at 370, while 42 other cities and provinces detected fewer than 100 infections each.
The country’s Covid tally has exceeded 10.7 million so far, the local media reported.
The ministry said more than 3,000 patients were free of the disease today, taking the total number of recoveries to nearly 9.4 million, and reported no Covid deaths.
The National Institute of Hygiene and Epidemiology has written to the departments of health and the centers for disease control in all of the country’s 63 cities and provinces announcing that there will be enough Covid vaccine doses to administer the fourth dose.
The institute also urges the cities and provinces to give the fourth shot to residents, mainly people aged 50 or older, people aged 18 and older with immunodeficiency and those at risk of infection with Covid, such as frontline forces and workers in industrial parks, after vaccine allocations.
