HCMC’s Covid-19 infections exceed 2,000

HCMC – The Ministry of Health this afternoon, June 23, reported 80 more domestic Covid-19 cases in seven provinces and cities, with HCMC detecting 40 infections that raised the city’s total number during the latest coronavirus wave to 2,013.

In addition, among the latest cases, 23 were reported in Binh Duong, eight in Bac Giang, four in Hung Yen. two in Lao Cai, two in Long An, and one in Bac Kan.

Since the current fourth wave of the coronavirus, which began on April 27, Binh Duong has confirmed 164 infections, with many of them detected at several firms such as House wares and Hien Hoa Anh Ceramics.

Due to the continued spread of the disease, Binh Duong Province had earlier put Tan Phuoc Khanh Ward with 50,000 people under lockdown, while Thuan An City, Tan Uyen Town and four wards in Thu Dau Mot City are practicing social distancing in line with the Prime Minister’s Directive 16.

In another development, the only patient in the northern province of Son La has made a full recovery after 37 days of treatment at the Son La General Hospital. After being discharged from the hospital, the 38-year-old woman will be quarantined and monitored at a quarantine center in Mai Son District for 14 days.

Son La Province is monitoring and quarantining some 6,090 people, with nine of them at healthcare centers, some 990 at concentrated quarantine facilities and the remainder at home.

Besides, the Department of Health of Bac Giang Province, the country’s largest coronavirus hotspot, announced that as many as 177 Covid-19 patients would be declared free of Covid-19 today, taking the province’s total recoveries to 2,486.

In addition, among the active cases in the province, 525 patients have tested negative for the virus once or twice, the local media reported.
