HCMC – The Hanoi Department of Transport has released a dispatch suspending public passenger transport services between Hanoi City and 14 other virus-hit provinces and cities, starting from today, July 8, to prevent Covid-19 from spreading.
Passenger transport operators, coach stations and firms active in transport services must continue to comply with Covid-19 safety protocols, according to the department’s order.
Buses, taxis, contract cars, passenger coaches and vehicles operating on fixed routes must suspend their services from Hanoi City to HCMC, Binh Duong, Dong Nai, Khanh Hoa, Phu Yen, Daklak, Quang Ngai, Quang Nam, Danang, Thua Thien Hue, Ha Tinh, Nghe An, Thanh Hoa and Ha Nam. Vehicles transporting officials, experts and employees at industrial parks or export processing zones are allowed to remain operational.
Passenger transport services will be allowed to resume only when these localities undergo 14 consecutive days without new Covid-19 infections, the local media reported.
Meanwhile, interprovincial coaches and vehicles operating on routes to other provinces and cities must follow Covid-19 infection prevention measures and not stop for drop-off or pickup services in virus-hit areas.
Besides, the Hanoi government also asked residents to stay home and go out only for essential purposes, stating from 6.00 p.m. today.
To prevent the spread of Covid-19 due to the high risk of infections from those who travel or return to the city from HCMC or other Covid-19-hit provinces, the municipal government also suspended outdoor sports activities until further notice.
Earlier on July 7, the city called on residents to restrict their travel to virus-hit areas and HCMC. Residents were also told to avoid gatherings of over 10 persons in public places.
After undergoing 10 consecutive days without fresh Covid-19 infections, Hanoi City on July 5 detected a positive Covid-19 case at a firm in the Thang Long Industrial Park.
