HCMC – An active tropical depression in the east of the Philippines’ Luzon Island could strengthen into a storm tonight, said Vietnam’s national weather center, adding that the storm could approach the northeastern part of the East Sea and become the third to hit the East Sea this year.
The storm is expected to bring powerful winds and thunderstorms, as well as higher tides in the East Sea, the local media reported.
To cope with the weather system, the national steering committee for natural disaster prevention and control told its subordinate committees in coastal cities and provinces from Quang Ninh to Quang Ngai to keep a close watch on the developments of the upcoming storm in order to warn fishing boat captains and owners about the system.
Also, they have to inform those in affected areas to prepare production plans ensuring safety of human and property as well as measures to timely cope with the negative impact of the storm.
