HCMC – The Enterprise Development Agency under the Vietnamese Ministry of Planning and Investment on September 8 joined hands with Enterprise Ireland of the Irish Government to hold a conference in Hanoi City to develop agritech.

At the event, many Irish firms introduced various technology solutions and advanced machines that will contribute to boosting the growth of the husbandry, processing and warehouse management fields, the local media reported.

Strengthening the partnership in agriculture between Vietnam and Ireland is necessary, contributing to helping the two nations’ enterprises thrive, Kevin Ryan, director for ASEAN at Enterprise Ireland, told a conference themed “The Adoption of Agritech 4.0.”

Ireland, one of the world’s leading agriculture developers, has much experience in transforming an agriculture-based nation into an industrial country, thanks to the adoption of advanced technologies, said Ryan.

Science and technology are key to Ireland’s success in improving the productivity and quality of products, he added.

Addressing the conference, Deputy Minister of Planning and Investment Tran Duy Dong said that over the past 30 years, Vietnam has constantly adopted many innovative policies in agriculture and achieved several positive results. The country not only serves domestic farm produce consumption but also ships various products, including basa fish, tuna, shrimp, coffee and cashew nuts, to numerous nations.

However, Deputy Minister Dong said that Vietnam’s agriculture is still facing some challenges over machinery, technologies and breeds, while Ireland has great strength in agriculture due to the adoption of technologies in the sector.

As such, the cooperation between the two countries will unlock Vietnam’s potential for agriculture and increase the connectivity of Vietnamese and Irish enterprises to boost agritech.
