HCMC – The northern province of Quang Ninh has selected several sectors, including culture, entertainment, catering, and shopping and tourism, to develop its night-time economy.
This is part of the province’s night-time economic development scheme for the 2022-2025 period.
Under the scheme, night-time economic activities would take place from 6 p.m. to 6 a.m. in a number of locations in Quang Ninh. After that, the province would move toward developing a 24/7 economy in cities and towns that hold potential for growth, reported the local media.
The night-time economic development scheme is set to be piloted in places far away from residential areas and could form separate night entertainment zones, such as the Tuan Chau international tourist area in Halong City and the Yen Tu historic and scenic area in Uong Bi City.
Many products under the province’s One Commune One Product program are being considered for the night-time economic development scheme to serve tourists.
The province welcomes the participation of local people and the artisan community in the night-time economic activities.
To encourage locals and enterprises to get involved, the province has pledged to provide them with free pavement locations for running businesses and support them in collecting, transporting and treating waste and ensuring public security. This is in addition to offering training to human resources who would serve the night-time economy and subsidies to passenger transport services linked to the economy.
According to many tourism experts, promoting the night-time economy in Quang Ninh, especially in major tourism hubs such as Halong City, would be an inevitable trend in the years to come.
Quang Ninh boasts many advantages for night-time economic development, including an adequate infrastructure system, an international airport and seaports and a professional tourism workforce.
