HCMC – The national steering committee for natural disaster control yesterday, October 28, wrote to the coastal provinces from Quang Ninh to Binh Thuan, asking them to take precautions against Storm Nalgae, which claimed dozens of lives in the Philippines and may enter the East Sea tomorrow.
As of 7 a.m. today, the tropical storm was spotted in the central region of the Philippines, packing winds of 89-102 kilometers per hour and gusts at level 12, according to the national weather forecast center.
Nalgae is forecast to enter the East Sea tomorrow after making landfall in the Philippines.
The northeastern and central parts of the East Sea, including Vietnam’s Hoang Sa (Paracel) Archipelago, could see strong winds, high tides and extremely rough seas from today due to the impact of the storm, said Nguyen Van Huong, head of the weather forecast division at the National Center for Hydro-Meteorological Forecasting.
Therefore, fishing vessels operating in these areas should watch out for storm developments and take shelter.
Authorities of the provinces mentioned above were asked to closely monitor the storm’s developments and inform fishing vessels of the information.
Localities were told to stay ready for rescue operations and regularly report the situation in their areas and any issues to the national steering committee for natural disaster control.
