HCMC – The HCMC Military Command held a ceremony this morning, August 23, to hand over 30 ambulances from the Ministry of National Defense to support HCMC to combat Covid-19.

Upon being authorized by the ministry, an HCMC Military Command representative signed an agreement to hand over the 30 ambulances to the HCMC Department of Health, along with drivers and medical workers, aimed at helping the city proactively contain the spread of the disease, safeguard local residents and soon bring the city back to the new normal.

These ambulances, drivers and medical workers are from the ministry’s Military Regions 7 and 9, reported VietnamPlus.

Speaking at the event, Pham Van Ram, Deputy Commander of the HCMC Military Command, said that given the complicated Covid situation in HCMC, the Ministry of National Defense and the HCMC Military Command will make efforts to assist the city in the fight against Covid.

The 30 ambulances are expected to contribute to the city’s anti-Covid efforts and ease the overload facing the city’s health system, he added.

Deputy director of the city’s Department of Health Tang Chi Thuong expressed his gratitude over the ministry’s timely support.

The city’s Health Department has been supported by the HCMC Military Command during the latest coronavirus resurgence, especially in the establishment and operation of 16 Covid field hospitals in the city.

After the handover ceremony, the department will transfer the 30 ambulances to the 115 Emergency Center and Covid field hospitals in the city.
