HCMC – The construction of technical infrastructure for Metro line No. 2, which connects Ben Thanh Market and Tham Luong Depot, commenced on June 21, reported the local media.
The HCMC Management Authority for Urban Railways (MAUR), the project investor, is responsible for relocating and upgrading the affected technical infrastructure, including electricity, water, drainage, and communication systems. This process is expected to take 1.5 years.
Site clearance and compensation for affected households along Cach Mang Thang Tam and Truong Chinh streets, where Metro Line No. 2 will pass through, has made significant progress. District authorities have issued compensation decisions for most of the affected cases, meeting 99.6% of the completion rate.
Districts 1, 10, Tan Binh, and Tan Phu have completed compensation decision issuance for all affected cases in their respective areas. However, challenges remain in providing compensation to affected cases in District 3.
With a total length of 11 kilometers, the Metro line No. 2 project includes nine underground stations and one elevated station. The project has an investment cost of nearly VND47.9 trillion.
Due to complications arising from site clearance and compensation issues, the project’s completion duration has been extended to 2030, instead of 2026 as originally planned.
