HCMC – All remaining ramps at the Long Thanh interchange on the Bien Hoa–Vung Tau Expressway were opened to traffic on June 6.

The completion of the interchange will ease traffic congestion and significantly improve travel between HCMC, Dong Nai City, and former Ba Ria-Vung Tau Province (now part of HCMC).

Shortly after the newly completed ramps were opened, traffic from multiple directions was observed moving smoothly through the interchange without major congestion. The newly operational sections provide multidirectional links between the Bien Hoa–Vung Tau Expressway, the HCMC–Long Thanh–Dau Giay Expressway, roads serving Long Thanh International Airport (T1 and T2 routes), and National Highway 51.

With all the ramps now in service, vehicles traveling on the Bien Hoa–Vung Tau Expressway can directly access the HCMC–Long Thanh–Dau Giay Expressway toward Dau Giay, National Highway 51, or HCMC. The interchange also facilitates smoother travel between HCMC and Vung Tau in both directions.

According to Project Management Unit 85 under the Ministry of Construction, the investor of Component 2 of the Bien Hoa–Vung Tau Expressway, all final construction works had been completed. The Long Thanh interchange is considered the largest and most important interchange along the expressway, serving as a central connection point linking the Bien Hoa–Vung Tau Expressway with the HCMC–Long Thanh–Dau Giay Expressway, airport access roads, and National Highway 51.

The full operation of the interchange is expected to shorten travel times, strengthen regional connectivity between Dong Nai, HCMC, and neighboring areas, and provide critical transport infrastructure supporting the future operation of Long Thanh International Airport.

Given the interchange’s large scale and multiple traffic merging points — particularly where vehicles from Vung Tau and Bien Hoa converge toward HCMC and National Highway 51 — the project developer has implemented a range of safety measures. These include additional median barriers, traffic signs, pavement markings, and a speed limit of 50 kilometers per hour on interchange ramps.

The 54-kilometer Bien Hoa–Vung Tau Expressway, which links Dong Nai with the greater HCMC region, is currently operating on a trial basis. During this period, only passenger cars with fewer than nine seats are permitted to use the expressway, with speed limits ranging from 60 kilometers per hour to 80 kilometers per hour.
