HCMC – With this approval, foreigners will be entitled to multiple entries to Vietnam within 90 days without a need to apply for a new visa.
With 470 among 475 deputies present at the National Assembly (NA) sitting voting in favor, the NA this morning, June 24, passed the Amended Law revising several articles of the Law on immigration of Vietnamese citizens and the Law on entry, exit, transit and residence of foreigners in Vietnam, which will be valid from August 15, 2023.
The Government will approve the lists of countries and territories with citizens being granted this type of visa, international border gates allowing foreigners to enter or exit with e-visa.
The law also allows citizens of countries subject to Vietnam’s unilateral exemption of visa to have temporary residence for 45 days instead of the current 15 days.
Earlier, responding deputies’ queries, Chairman of the National Assembly’s Committee for National Defense and Security Lieutenant General Le Tan Toi said that permitting to conduct immigration procedures on electronic environment will enhance effectiveness of management activities and create favorable conditions for Vietnamese and foreigners in immigration.
The extension of the duration of visa-free stay for international tourists to 45 days from the current 15 days aims to raise Vietnam’s competitiveness in attracting tourists, providing momentum for the recovery of tourism post pandemic, said the chairman.
Vietnam now grants one-month single-entry e-visas to visitors from 80 countries and territories, the local media reported.
