HCMC – The Hanoi People’s Committee broke ground this morning, July 19, on a 3.4-kilometer road connecting Phap Van-Cau Gie Expressway with Beltway No. 3.
The VND3.2-trillion connecting road will have eight traffic lanes, starting at the intersection with Phap Van-Cau Gie Expressway and ending at the intersection with Beltway No. 3, crossing over two districts of Hoang Mai and Thanh Tri in Hanoi.
The project’s main components include Tu Hiep interchange, a road section from Tu Hiep to Beltway No. 3, technical infrastructure, and lighting and drainage systems.
The construction cost accounts for over VND1.9 trillion out of the total VND3.2 trillion, while the rest is used for site clearance, project management and others.
The project is slated for completion in 2025.
Once completed, the road is expected to reduce traffic on the Phap Van-Cau Gie Expressway, establish a better transportation system, and promote socio-economic development in Hoang Mai, Thanh Tri, as well as the southern and southeastern regions of Hanoi City.
The Phap Van-Cau Gie Expressway is one of the key traffic routes linking Hanoi with other provinces in the south of the city. Due to its high volume of traffic, the expressway frequently experiences congestion, especially during holidays.
According to statistics, the expressway records an average traffic flow of 70,000 to 80,000 vehicles every day. During the Lunar New Year holiday in 2023, the traffic volume reached 150,000 vehicles per day.
