HCMC – Hoa Lac 2 became the first data center in the Asia-Pacific region to integrate NVIDIA H200 AI computing infrastructure and receive Uptime Institute’s Tier III Certification of Constructed Facility (TCCF), according to Viettel.

The military-run telecommunications group announced on June 5 that the facility had obtained the certification, a globally recognized standard for data center safety, availability and reliability.

Hoa Lac 2 was designed for high-performance computing and artificial intelligence workloads rather than conventional data storage and enterprise applications.

Viettel described the facility as Vietnam’s largest TCCF Tier III-certified data center, with capacity for 2,400 server racks supporting AI platforms, cloud computing and large-scale data processing.

The center operates more than 100 server clusters powered by NVIDIA H200 GPUs and an NVIDIA DGX B200 supercomputer capable of performing 1.5 quintillion calculations per second.

To support continuous high-capacity operations, the facility is equipped with a cooling system rated at 5,000 refrigeration tons. The system has a dual-redundancy design to maintain uninterrupted service.

According to Viettel, its engineers completed the entire certification process without hiring foreign consultants. The work covered facility design, technical documentation, 120 days of operational assessment and five days of continuous testing.

The group also said that it was the first organization in the Asia-Pacific region to use operational GPU servers, rather than simulation equipment, during system testing.

Hoa Lac 2 serves as the core infrastructure of Viettel Cloud, the company’s cloud computing platform, which Viettel said is fully developed and operated using its own technology.
