HCMC – Around 678,000 out of 2.9 million vehicles inspected across Vietnam during the first six months of 2023 did not meet the required safety and environmental standards.
These vehicles will need repairs or changes before they can undergo re-inspection.
The figures were announced by Vietnam Register during a conference held on July 24 in Hanoi City, where the performance in the year’s first half was reviewed, and priorities for the second half of 2023 were outlined.
In addition to road vehicles, Vietnam Register provided information on maritime inspections. As of June 30, there were over 1,200 Vietnamese-flagged vessels with a combined tonnage exceeding 11 million tons. Out of these, 592 vessels operated on international routes, with nearly 10 million tons in total tonnage.
The authority also conducted inspections on 290 marine and offshore structures, and issued safety and environment certificates to various structures, including 110 fixed platforms, 11 mobile platforms, 14 floating storage facilities, 150 subsea pipelines, and four offshore mooring buoys.
