PNJ posts profit growth in Jan-Jul

HCMC – Phu Nhuan Jewelry JSC, which trades its PNJ shares on the Hochiminh Stock Exchange, posted over VND18.8 trillion in net revenue and VND1.17 trillion in after-tax profit between January and July this year.

PNJ’s seven-month net revenue slid by 9.2% over the same period last year, while its after-tax profit inched up 0.3% year-on-year. With this business performance, PNJ has achieved 60.4% of its full-year profit target in 2023.

A representative from PNJ said that the sales of jewelry products in the first seven months of 2023 decreased by 9.9% compared to the same period in 2022 due to ongoing market challenges.

Closing the trading session today, August 24, PNJ stock edged up 0.65% day-on-day to VND78,000 per share, with 258,400 units changing hands.

The southern stock exchange experienced a surge in buying force, particularly within the real estate and construction stock groups. It helped the VN-Index achieve its most impressive trading session in nearly half a year.

On the HCMC bourse, the VN-Index improved 16.83 points, or 1.44%, from the session earlier, at 1,189.39, with 400 gainers and 107 losers. Trade volume totaled 851.5 million shares worth VND18.4 trillion, up 14% and 8% against the previous day, respectively.

Block-deal transactions totaled more than 61.4 million units valued at VND1,399 billion.

FPT was the best performer today as it surged 5.3% to VND90,000 per share, with 5.25 million units transacted.

Many other stocks made strong gains, such as SSI with a surge of 5.3%, MSN with an increase of 3.2%, and GVR soaring by 3.1%.

NVL surged by 5.88% to VND19,800 per share and took the lead by liquidity with around 40.89 million shares changing hands.

With 132 advancers and 57 decliners, the HNX-Index of the Hanoi Stock Exchange  gained 5.15 points, or 2.16%, reaching 243.23 points. The total trading volume exceeded 99.9 million units, with a value of over VND1.8 trillion.

Among numerous gainers today, SHS stood out in terms of trading volume with over 30.4 million units matched. It increased by 5.63% over the previous session to VND16,900 per share.
