HCMC – Australia has announced A$2 million in aid for innovative and technology-driven projects within Vietnam’s agricultural sector.

This funding is part of the Australia-Vietnam Innovation Partnership Program (Aus4Innovation).

According to a press release on August 24, the Aus4Innovation program aims to support projects that have successfully completed trial phases, focusing on addressing challenges and seizing opportunities within Vietnam’s innovation landscape.

With the designated funding of A$2 million, these projects will leverage technology to drive advancements in Vietnam’s agricultural domain.

The selection process for funding will be competitive, with grants ranging from A$250,000 to A$700,000 awarded to collaborative projects between Australia and Vietnam. The selected projects will be given up to 24 months to implement their proposed initiatives.

Under the theme “High Tech Innovation to Address Challenges in Agriculture for Sustainable Development,” this funding round seeks innovative ideas that utilize technology to enhance productivity in production and processing, optimize the utilization of resources in agriculture, develop domestic and export markets for agricultural products, contribute to climate change adaptation/mitigation and resilience, or ensure benefits for disadvantaged groups.

Australian Ambassador to Vietnam Andrew Goledzinowski expressed his enthusiasm for the initiative, stating, “This grant round emphasizes high-tech agriculture to address climate change, a new theme in Vietnam, and is expected to yield innovative solutions through close collaboration between Vietnam and Australia.”

Previous funding rounds focused on technology-driven projects in healthcare, food agriculture, disaster management, and the environment.

Aus4Innovation is a 10-year, A$33.5 million development program aimed at realizing the formal Innovation Partnership between Australia and Vietnam, spanning from 2018 to 2028.

The program aims to strengthen Vietnam’s innovation system and promote sustainable socio-economic growth. It is funded by Australia’s Department of Foreign Affairs (DFAT), co-funded and managed by the Commonwealth Scientific and Industrial Research Organization (CSIRO), and delivered in strategic partnership with Vietnam’s Ministry of Science and Technology.
