HCMC – The northern province of Quang Ninh today, September 21, reopened intra-provincial tourism services after it had been without new Covid-19 infections in the community for over 80 consecutive days.
The province has detected no new cases in the community since June 28 and has administered over one million doses to its residents, reaching over 85% of its target.
Under the decision, tourist sites and facilities active in the tourism sector must follow safety protocols in line with the Health Ministry’s guidelines.
Keeping the province safe from the pandemic is a key step for the recovery of tourism, Nguyen Xuan Ky, secretary of the Quang Ninh Province Party Committee, said, adding that the demand for local travel in the fourth quarter of the year is high.
In November and December, the province will launch numerous tourism promotion programs to attract visitors from other provinces and cities, mainly the northern ones, which have undergone at least 14 days without community transmission.
Travelers to Quang Ninh Province must be fully vaccinated and show a negative PCR test taken 48 hours prior, the local media reported.
The province will prioritize risk-averse tourism models, high value-added products and long-stay, closed tours.
Employees in charge of tours for inter-provincial visitors must be fully vaccinated, undergo regular Covid tests and employ the stay-at-work model.
Between January and September, due to the impact of the pandemic, Quang Ninh welcomed a mere 2.6 million tourists, dipping by 56.1% year-on-year, and earned total revenue of VND5 trillion, down 59.1% year-on-year.
The province targets to welcome 1.9-2 million tourists and earn VND4-4.5 trillion in tourism revenue in the fourth quarter of 2021.
