HCMC – Seven workers were killed and three others injured in a workplace accident that occurred at a cement factory in Yen Bai Province this afternoon, April 22, according to local news reports.
At around 1:30 p.m. today when some workers of Yen Bai Cement and Minerals Joint Stock Company were conducting routine maintenance and repair on a crusher at the factory, the rotary kiln was suddenly activated, leaving seven workers inside the kiln dead on the spot and three others outside sustaining minor injuries.
“The primary cause of the accident has been identified as a malfunction in the crusher’s electric motor, leading to the accident for the workers engaged in maintenance and repair,” said a report by local government.
At present, Yen Bai Province and Yen Bai Cement and Minerals Joint Stock Company are taking measures to support the families of the victims.
The central Government has just issued a directive requesting an investigation into the fatal accident and determine those responsible.
