HCMC – Phan Pham Ha, general director of VEAM Corporation, has been arrested on allegations of abusing his position and power while performing his official duties, said local media reports.
Vietnam Engine and Agricultural Machinery Corporation (VEAM) said on June 12 that it had received a notification from police in Hanoi regarding the prosecution and detention of general director Phan Pham Ha.
He is charged with abusing his position and power while performing his official duties under Clause 3, Article 356 of the Penal Code. His specific violations are unknown.
In October 2023, Nguyen Thanh Giang, former general director of VEAM, and Ho Manh Tuan, deputy general director, were prosecuted for violating regulations on the management and use of State assets, causing losses and wastefulness.
In May 2022, several former leaders of VEAM were sentenced to prison for violations that caused damage and loss of State assets worth nearly VND183 billion.
