HCMC – José Viñals, Standard Chartered Group chairman, has reaffirmed the bank’s long-term commitment to Vietnam during his recent visit, which coincides with the bank’s 120th anniversary in the country.

In Hanoi, Viñals met with Deputy Prime Minister Le Minh Khai and other senior officials to discuss Vietnam’s economic potential, investment opportunities, and collaborative efforts towards sustainable development.

He expressed optimism about Vietnam’s future, citing strong economic fundamentals, a rising middle class, and its strategic location as key drivers of growth momentum.

Vietnam is a key growth market for Standard Chartered, said Viñals. “We remain positive about Vietnam’s medium-to-long-term prospects and are confident that it is well-positioned for continued success.”

Michele Wee, CEO of Standard Chartered Vietnam, emphasized the bank’s efforts to leverage its local knowledge and international expertise to drive commerce activities in Vietnam.

Standard Chartered recently increased its capital in Vietnam by US$60 million.
