HCMC – Vietnam has sent nearly 89,900 workers abroad between January and July this year, achieving around 72% of the annual target, according to the Ministry of Labor, Invalids and Social Affairs.
The information was announced on July 30 during a press conference held by the ministry to report on the implementation of labor, war invalids, and social policies for the first half of this year.
Deputy Minister Nguyen Ba Hoan said that the ministry has implemented measures to manage and develop the labor market, focusing on recruitment and training. They have also strengthened the oversight and issuance of permits for foreign workers in Vietnam. As of July this year, there were 154,268 foreign workers employed in the country.
In the domestic labor market, the ministry has continued to implement solutions to maintain a stable workforce and promote economic growth, production, business, and labor market development.
Over the past six months, the working-age population reached 52.5 million people, an increase of nearly 200,000 compared to the same period last year. The labor force entry rate was 68.5%, and the proportion of trained workers rose to 28%, an increase of 1.4%.
The unemployment rate among the working-age population remained steady at 2.27%, unchanged from the previous year. The workforce structure has shown positive shifts, with 13.7 million people working in the agriculture, forestry, and fishery sectors, accounting for 26.7% of the workforce, a slight decrease from the same period last year.
