HCMC – Dong Nai City has broken ground on a 1,000-unit social housing project in Long Binh Ward, the first of its kind in Vietnam aimed at providing affordable rental housing for workers and low-income residents.

The Long Binh Rental Housing Project, located in Long Binh Ward near several major industrial parks, including Amata, Agtex Long Binh, Bien Hoa 2 and Ho Nai, will be developed on a 1.52-hectare site with total investment capital of nearly VND1.4 trillion from the city budget.

The first phase includes a 20-storey apartment block with about 1,000 units ranging from 34 to 63 square meters. The apartments are intended primarily for workers, low-income earners and other groups eligible for social housing support under government regulations.

Under the project, residents and workers will be able to rent housing on a long-term basis. The development will also include synchronized technical infrastructure and on-site amenities such as parking areas, community facilities, green spaces, fire prevention and firefighting systems, electricity supply, water supply and drainage networks, telecommunications services and other supporting works.

Once completed, the project will provide accommodation for thousands of people, mainly workers, low-income earners and other groups eligible for social housing support policies under current regulations.

According to leaders of the Dong Nai City People’s Committee, this is the first social housing rental project in Dong Nai City and also the first project nationwide to be implemented following directions issued by Party General Secretary and State President To Lam in Notice No. 64-TB/VPTW dated May 22, 2026, regarding the implementation of Directive No. 34-CT/TW of the Party Central Committee’s Secretariat on rental housing development and future housing policy orientations.
