HCMC – Domestic gold bar prices rose sharply by VND800,000 per tael, while gold ring prices increased by VND350,000 per tael this morning, August 1, driven by a spike in global gold prices, said local media reports.

The State Bank of Vietnam today revised up the selling price of SJC-brand gold bars via the four designated State-run banks and the Saigon Jewelry Company (SJC) to VND78.8 million per tael. A tael equals 37.5 grams or 1.2 troy ounces.

As a result, the selling price at authorized enterprises and banks also spiked.

Large businesses, including Saigon Jewelry Company (SJC), Doji, and PNJ, this morning listed the price of SJC gold bars at VND77.8 million per tael for buying and VND79.8 million per tael for selling, up by VND800,000 per tael compared to yesterday’s close.

The difference between the buying and selling prices is VND2 million per tael.

Gold ring prices also rose sharply in line with global fluctuations. SJC’s 24K gold ring price increased by VND350,000 on both the buying and selling sides to VND76.3-77.65 million per tael.
