HCMC – Work on a 51-kilometer expressway connecting HCMC and the Moc Bai border gate in neighboring Tay Ninh Province will start on April 30 next year in coincidence with the celebration of the 50th anniversary of the liberation of southern Vietnam and the reunification of the nation.

According to the Transportation Works Construction Investment Project Management Authority of HCMC (TCIP), the expressway is expected to significantly enhance connectivity between HCMC and Tay Ninh, and also provide a direct link to the expressway extending into Cambodia.

The investor is currently finalizing the detailed plan for the project, with the goal of beginning construction on the technical infrastructure by April 30, 2025. The entire expressway is projected to be completed and opened to traffic by December 31, 2027, according to the Vietnam News Agency.

The expressway will start at the HCMC Beltway No. 3 in Cu Chi District and extend to National Highway 22 in Ben Cau District, Tay Ninh, covering 51 kilometers. Of this, 24.7 kilometers will run through HCMC, and the remaining 26.3 kilometers will be in Tay Ninh.

Initially, the expressway will feature four lanes, with plans to expand to six lanes.

The Government has approved the investment plan for phase one of the HCMC-Moc Bai Expressway under the public-private partnership (PPP) model.

The project requires over VND19.6 trillion, with nearly VND9.95 trillion to be contributed by investors and the remainder by the State budget.
