HCMC – Vietnamese carriers have announced plans to increase the number of flights on domestic and international routes ahead of the four-day break to celebrate Vietnam’s National Day on September 2, according to the Vietnam News Agency.

Vietjet Air plans to operate an additional 120 flights, offering 25,000 extra seats on routes connecting HCMC, Hanoi, Danang, Nha Trang, Phu Quoc and Hue.

Vietnam Airlines will also increase the frequency of its domestic flights between major cities such as Hanoi, HCMC, Danang, Dalat, and Cam Ranh, as well as between HCMC and Hue and Phu Quoc.

The national flag carrier plans to operate more than 1,700 domestic flights, providing 330,000 seats, up 19% compared to the same period last year.

On international routes, the most significant increases in flights will be between Vietnam and India, China, Thailand and Australia. The total number of international seats will exceed 150,000, corresponding to more than 650 flights.

To better manage the travel demand during this period, the Civil Aviation Authority of Vietnam has issued a directive to airlines, requiring them to report their aircraft operation plans, flight increases, ticket sales, and the number of seats available on domestic routes to and from tourist destinations during the National Day holiday, from August 30 to September 3, 2024.
