Airfares for upcoming holiday soar

HCMC – Airfares on domestic routes have jumped for the upcoming National Day holiday compared to a week earlier, according to data from Vietnamese air carriers.

On the Hanoi-HCMC route, Vietnam Airlines’ highest fare is now around VND2.6 million for a one-way ticket on August 30 during daytime hours, an 8% increase from August 23.

Vietjet Air has set fares at VND2.3 million for a one-way ticket, up 25% compared to a week ago.

For the Hanoi-Nha Trang route, fares range from VND2.4 million to VND3 million per one-way ticket for travel during the upcoming four-day holiday, a 24% rise from the week before.

On the Hanoi-Phu Quoc route, round-trip economy fares range between VND3.4 million and VND6 million. Meanwhile, on the HCMC-Phu Quoc and HCMC-Nha Trang routes, round-trip fares are between VND2.9 million and VND4.2 million, compared to the usual VND2.2 million.

According to the Civil Aviation Authority of Vietnam, from August 30 to September 3, local airlines will operate a total of 4,257 flights, an increase of 3.5% over the same period in 2023.

This includes an average of 600 domestic flights per day, up 2.8%, and an average of 241 international flights per day, up by 5.1% from the same period last year.

For the main North-South route, connecting Hanoi, Danang, and HCMC, the aviation sector is increasing the number of flights to around 241 flights per day, a 14.9% year-on-year increase.
