HCMC – Hanoi is fast-tracking preparations to build the Tu Lien Bridge across the Red River at an estimated cost of around VND20 trillion, reported the Lao Dong news site.

The transportation works construction project management authority of Hanoi City has been tasked with preparing a feasibility study for the Tu Lien Bridge and a connecting road to the Hanoi-Thai Nguyen Expressway.

This report is set to be submitted to the city’s People’s Committee for review by the third quarter of 2024, with construction planned to start within the year.

The Tu Lien Bridge project is part of Hanoi’s traffic infrastructure development strategy for the 2021-2025 period. It will be financed through a public-private partnership (PPP).

The project covers around 11.5 kilometers, starting from the Nghi Tam interchange in Tay Ho District and extending to the Beltway No. 3 interchange in Dong Anh District. The bridge will span 2.9 kilometers over the Red River, and have six traffic lanes.

According to the Hanoi Department of Transport, the Tu Lien Bridge is expected to alleviate traffic congestion on the routes connecting the city center to northern provinces. It will also serve as a third gateway, alongside the Thang Long Bridge and Nhat Tan Bridge, enhancing connectivity between Noi Bai International Airport and the city center.
