HCMC – Domestic SJC gold prices fell by a total of VND3.5 million per tael over the past week, ending the trading week at VND160.5 million-163.5 million per tael for buying and selling, respectively.

As of the final trading session on May 16, domestic gold prices continued to track the sharp decline in global markets.

During the first two trading sessions of the week on May 11 and 12, SJC gold stayed high, at around VND164 million-167 million per tael. However, selling pressure emerged on May 13, dragging prices down to VND162 million-165 million before falling further in the morning session of May 15.

The downward trend was not limited to gold, as silver bar prices also weakened, reflecting broader investor caution toward precious metals.

On the global market, spot gold prices fell 2% during overnight trading on May 15 Vietnam time to US$4,557.61 per ounce, the lowest level in more than a week, bringing the total weekly decline to 2.5%.
