HCMC – Top-level officials from the Party, the National Assembly (NA), and the Government visited the northern provinces devastated by typhoon Yagi, flooding and landslides today, September 12, pledging to prioritize rescue efforts and provide immediate relief to affected communities.
The Vietnamese leaders expressed deep sympathy for the victims and their families and pledged to provide all necessary support to help them rebuild their lives.
Party General Secretary and President To Lam traveled to Tuyen Quang Province to assess the damage caused by the storm and flooding, and offer support to local residents.
Inspecting ongoing efforts to repair damaged dykes along the Lo River, the Party chief and head of State said, “Saving lives is our top priority.” He also met with local rescuers and officials and reaffirmed the country’s full support for the affected communities.
Earlier today, NA Chairman Tran Thanh Man visited Thai Nguyen Province to oversee the recovery efforts. He emphasized the importance of post-disaster disease prevention and urged the community to unite and support those affected by the typhoon.
Man called for swift restoration of essential infrastructure, such as transportation, electricity, and water, to help people return to normalcy.
Meanwhile, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh visited Lao Cai Province, where a landslide triggered by heavy rain buried dozens of homes, causing numerous casualties in Bao Yen District.
PM Chinh called for additional resources to provide immediate assistance to the affected families and expedite the recovery of bodies.
He also instructed the local government to implement a plan to reallocate land and provide housing for displaced residents by the end of the year.
