In Thai Nguyen Province, the Electronics-Electrical Refrigeration Association offered to repair home appliances free of charge for flood victims at the yard of the Tax Department of Thai Nguyen City, and via three mobile stations. The program lasted from September 13 to 18, with the participation of some 100 technicians from many localities, thousands of appliances had been repaired for local residents.
On September 15, 13 members of the Electrical Refrigeration Association of Quang Binh Province went to Thai Nguyen to lend a helping hand. Truong Dinh Quy, a member, told thanhnien.vn that his team worked from dawn till dust, repairing hundreds of appliances for the local victims. From Ben Cat Town in Binh Duong Province, two employees of Thai Tuan Home Appliances Co. also went to Thai Nguyen to join the campaign.
In response to the program to help repair home appliances for flood victims, about 250 technicians from other cities and provinces nationwide went to Thai Nguyen, Lao Cai and Yen Bai provinces to lend a hand to those whose home appliances needed to be repaired after being submerged in floodwater for several days.
Mid-Autumn Festival for orphans in Abyei
Over 200 children, all of whom are orphans from the Abyei Church’s school (Abyei is an area between Sudan and South Sudan in Africa), attended the Mid-Autumn Festival held on September 16 by the Vietnamese peacekeepers on duty in Abyei.
Major Nguyen Mau Vu, political officer of the Vietnamese sappers at work in Abyei, told vnexpress.net that the Vietnamese squad organized the Mid-Autumn Festival for these kids at their Highway Base. The kids were taught to sing some Vietnamese Full Moon songs. They also watched animated films about the Mid-Autumn Festival and its mythical characters in English. Then they played some folk games with the Vietnamese Blue Berets, and tasted mooncakes, gelatin desserts and pumpkin sweet soup. The kids also received gifts such as lanterns, pinwheels and bamboo fans made by the sappers.
On this occasion, the Vietnamese peacekeepers presented gifts to 10 local students who had passed the university entrance exams. They presented five bookshelves, toys, books and notebooks to the Abyei Church’s school.
In the previous working terms, the Vietnamese sappers built three classrooms, installed clean water supply system, and donated books, notebooks and stationeries, and food for the Abyei Church’s school for orphans.
Over 2,000 food servings for flood-hit residents on Phu Quoc
Tran Thi Tuyet Van, a resident of Duong Dong Ward in Phu Quoc City, has provided more than 2,000 servings of congee and rice to support those affected by recent flooding in the area.
In an interview with Tuoi Tre on September 19, she noted that although the water has receded, many disadvantaged households continue to face significant challenges, as they are unable to return to work and stabilize their lives.
To help the community, Van decided to prepare 2,000 servings of nutritious congee and over 500 meals. Each meal was thoughtfully composed of fish, meat, soup, and cucumber, ensuring proper nutrition for the recipients.
“This is a small gift, but it comes from our hearts,” Van expressed warmly. “We hope it helps everyone overcome their current difficulties and stabilize their lives soon.”
The great ritual of Caodaism in Tay Ninh Holy See
Hoi Yen Dieu Tri – Holy Banquet for Great Mother and Nine Goddesses – 2024 took place in Tay Ninh Holy See in Hoa Thanh Town (Tay Ninh Province) on the 15th of the eighth lunar month (also the Mid-Autumn Festival, which fell on September 17), attracting the participation of many thousands of Caodaism followers and local and international tourists.
The main ritual, the procession of the Great Mother and the Nine Goddesses, took place at 6 p.m. Then came the dragon, kylin, tortoise and phoenix dances; and the offering of trays of five kinds of fruits and cakes to pray for clement weather, peace and happiness.
A highlight of the event was the fire dragon dance. The 39-meter-long dragon was performed by 52 persons (with more than 100 others as backups) along a three-kilometer route to the temple. On this occasion, Caodaism followers also introduced exclusive fruits and cakes at 118 stalls decorated with flowers and lanterns.
According to vnexpress.net, Caodaism now has some 2.4 million followers. Tay Ninh Holy See, the largest religious work of Caodaism, was built in 1933 and was inaugurated in 1955. The temple has two 25-meter-tall bell and drum towers.
