HCMC – HCMC launched an Ornamental Creature Week 2024 from October 11-13 at the Nguyen Du Gymnasium in District 1.
The three-day event brings together artisans, garden owners, cooperatives, and businesses to showcase and promote their ornamental creature products. It aims to encourage networking and offers a platform for participants to share production and business insights.
A key highlight of this year’s event is the expanded exhibition, featuring pets, ornamental reptiles, rabbits, and guinea pigs.
Phung Mai, owner of Ansopod House specializing in isopods, noted that isopods are a new addition to the event. “Prices range from VND100,000 to VND500,000 per isopod, and I’ve already seen positive responses from customers through my social media channels,” she said.
Minh Trung, vice chairman of the ornamental creatures association in Binh Tan District, said, “We aim to promote our unique products that combine Japanese methods with Vietnamese bonsai, displayed on coral stones and ceramic plates. These items come with good prices, starting from just a few hundred thousand of Vietnamese dong,” he said, adding that the ceramic pieces are sourced from Bat Trang.
Eighth-grader Gia Tri, an event attendee, expressed enthusiasm for the event. “I learned about it through Facebook groups that follow reptile breeding. I have been raising geckos for two years and plan to move on to spiders. I will definitely attend again if it is held downtown next year,” he said.
This year’s event features two new competitions for prized dogs and cats to promote responsible pet care. Free veterinary services will also be available throughout the exhibition.
