Ho Chi Minh City connects with Ba Ria-Vung Tau to expand the market for OCOP products

With the message of connecting to improve competitiveness and expand the market, the week-long exhibition of Ba Ria-Vung Tau Province’s specialties and OCOP products held in Ho Chi Minh City promises to open up many opportunities for businesses to find business partners and expand the market in a sustainable way.

Cooperation for sustainable development

The week-long exhibition of Ba Ria-Vung Tau Province’s specialties and OCOP products takes place in Ho Chi Minh City from October 25 – 28. The event is organized by the Investment & Trade Promotion Center of Ho Chi Minh City in coordination with the Ba Ria-Vung Tau Investment, Trade and Tourism Promotion Center. The exhibition attracts 34 businesses with more than 100 typical products of Ba Ria-Vung Tau Province.

The event aims to open up opportunities for businesses, cooperatives and production establishments in Ba Ria-Vung Tau Province to connect with distributors and businesses in Ho Chi Minh City in order to promote and stimulate the consumption of agricultural products that meet export standards; products certified as standout rural industrial products, OCOP products, specialties and key products of Ba Ria-Vung Tau Province. This is one of many programs that the two localities have cooperated and promoted in recent times.

Mr. Le Anh Hoang, Deputy Director of the Ba Ria-Vung Tau Investment, Trade and Tourism Promotion Center, assessed that Ho Chi Minh City is a key market for manufacturers to expand and develop their business. The program offers an opportunity for manufacturers in Ba Ria-Vung Tau Province to promote, introduce and connect their products to distributors, consumers and international tourists in Ho Chi Minh City. He believed that, with the message of “connecting to improve competitiveness and expand the market”, the program will create the most favorable conditions for businesses and manufacturers of Ba Ria-Vung Tau Province to find partners and develop their business in a sustainable way.

Ms. Ho Thi Quyen, Deputy Director of the Investment & Trade Promotion Centre of Ho Chi Minh City, said: “Ample room remains available for Ho Chi Minh City and Ba Ria-Vung Tau Province’s cooperation and development, especially in the fields of trade, investment and tourism. Therefore, in the coming years, the two localities will focus on close coordination in boosting supply and demand connection, promoting trade and investment to contribute to supporting product consumption and attracting investment in key projects to promote local socio-economic development.”

Opening up more opportunities for manufacturers

Currently, Ba Ria-Vung Tau Province has 145 products of 80 entities recognized as OCOP products of 3 stars or higher ranking, including: 83 4-star products and 62 3-star products. These star-rated OCOP products are manufactured by businesses and cooperatives that have adapted production to ISO, VietGAP and food safety standards… In 2024, Ba Ria-Vung Tau Province has granted the Certificates of Outstanding Rural Industrial Products to 35 products and product sets at the provincial level; 11 out of 35 products have been granted the Certificates of Outstanding Rural Industrial Products at the Southern region level by the local Department of Industry and Trade.

In order to accompany and help manufacturers to find and expand the market towards sustainable development, over the years, the Ba Ria-Vung Tau Investment, Trade and Tourism Promotion Center has actively coordinated with localities to organize many investment promotion programs. The exhibition of Ba Ria-Vung Tau Province’s specialties and OCOP products held in Ho Chi Minh City will become an annual event and an effective channel to support organizations and individuals with OCOP products and outstanding products in trade connection, search for customers and product consumption market expansion.

Mr. Le Van Danh, Deputy Director of the Ba Ria-Vung Tau Investment, Trade and Tourism Promotion Center, said that the province’s OCOP products from agriculture are growing strongly in the direction of sustainable development, environmental protection and brand reputation enhancement. Ba Ria-Vung Tau always sets a goal to accompany and effectively connect state management agencies with businesses in production, consumption and market development for products.

Mr. Pham Van Chinh, Deputy Director of Kim Truc Plus Company Limited that has a booth at the exhibition, said that the company’s products manufactured from the combination of honey and herbs have been recognized as rural industrial products since 2022. He shared that participation in displaying and introducing products at the trade connection programs like this helps the company meet many potential partners, thereby opening up more opportunities for market development.
