Former transport minister faces discipline

The Saigon Times

Must read

HCMC – The Central Inspection Commission has proposed taking disciplinary measures against Nguyen Van The, former minister of transport.

In a statement released today, November 13, the commission concluded that the Party Civil Affairs Committee of the Ministry of Transport for the 2021-2026 term, when The served as transport minister, had breached the principles of democratic centralism and internal regulations. Nguyen Van The now serves as secretary of the Party Committee of the Central Agencies.

The Party Civil Affairs Committee was found to have been negligent, failing to exercise proper leadership and oversight, which allowed the ministry, along with several organizations and individuals, to violate Party rules and state laws in the management of tenders and projects executed by Thuan An Group Joint Stock Company.

Some officials and Party members, including key officials of the ministry, violated Party regulations and state laws regarding the prevention of corruption, wastefulness, and negativities, as well as breaching the rules on what Party members are prohibited from doing and their responsibility to act as role models.

Personal responsibility for the above violations and shortcomings belongs to the following individuals: Nguyen Van The, member of the Party Central Committee, secretary of the Party Committee of the Central Agencies, former Secretary of the Party Civil Affairs Committee, and Minister of Transport; Le Dinh Tho, former member of the Party Civil Affairs Committee, Deputy Minister of Transport, and a number of other Party organizations and Party members.

The commission recommended that the competent authorities consider disciplinary action against the Party Civil Affairs Committee of the Ministry of Transport for the 2021-2026 term and Nguyen Van The.

The following individuals have been expelled from the Party: Nguyen Quang Huy, Party secretary and director of Project Management Board 4, and Vu Hai Tung, Party secretary and head of the Road Construction Investment Management Department.

Other individuals have been removed from all positions in the Party, such as Nguyen Thanh Van, deputy director of the Department of Construction Investment Management, former Party secretary and director of Project Management Board 85; Phan Duy Khanh, member of the Party Executive Committee of Project Management Board 85; and Vuong Dinh Kieu, deputy head of the Technical – Appraisal Department at Project Management Board 6.
