HCMC – A Vietnamese company completed its first customs declaration at the Mong Cai Border Gate on November 20, exporting a shipment of bird’s nests to China through the Bac Luan 2 Bridge border crossing, according to the Vietnam News Agency.
The shipment consisted of ready-to-eat bottled bird’s nests and refined bird’s nests, marking the first time Vietnamese bird’s nests have been exported to China via the Bac Luan 2 Bridge.
This development follows the initial export of Vietnamese bird’s nest products to China at the end of 2023 through the Huu Nghi International Border Gate in Lang Son Province. These exports were facilitated under a protocol signed on November 9, 2022, between Vietnam’s Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development and China’s General Administration of Customs.
China’s move to expand official import channels for bird’s nests has provided a significant boost to Vietnam’s swiftlet farming and bird’s nest production and processing industries.
China remains the world’s largest consumer of bird’s nest products, with an annual demand exceeding 300 tons, accounting for approximately 80 percent of the global market.
